Why doesn’t House of Ruth accept in-kind donations?

• It’s relatively easy to get the material things the women and families need, in part because there are very good organizations that collect and re-distribute donated items. Providing housing and skilled staff is the hard part, and for that we need financial donations.
• Large gifts-in-kind programs can receive and re-distribute donated goods more efficiently than we can. We recommend A Wider Circle, in Silver Spring, Maryland.

If you really want to help women and children at House of Ruth, the best way to do it is to make a financial donation. Donate your good to excellent quality stuff to a large gifts-in-kind program or have a garage sale and send us the proceeds.
