EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES House of Ruth has several job openings at our service-enriched residential programs as well as our community-based services: the Domestic Violence Support Center and Kidspace, a child and family development center. COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES Domestic Violence Support Center Counselor: Provides supportive counseling/therapy, develops therapeutic relationships, assesses strengths and needs, creates goals, implements and monitors the case management plan and conducts outreach services. Encourages women and children to express emotions, understand feelings and manage behaviors related to the effects of domestic violence. Identifies resources and links women and children to a comprehensive set of services. Qualifications: Master’s degree in Social Work or related field and equivalent experience. Subject of email heading must include: Counselor. Kidspace Teacher: Provides a safe, nurturing, educational environment to promote the development of high risk, young children. Plans and teaches an age-appropriate curriculum and assists parents to understand and foster their child’s growth. Determines specific needs and skill levels and ensures that each child receives direct instruction by working with the entire group, small groups and individuals. Completes developmental assessments, skills checklists and develops individualized goals for each child. Operating hours are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Qualifications: CDA. and two years of experience as a teacher in a licensed child development center or 15 credits in early childhood courses and one year of experience in a child development center or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood education or Bachelor’s degree in related field with at least 15 credits in early childhood courses. Assistant Kidspace Teacher: Plans and teaches an age-appropriate curriculum for young children, provides a nurturing environment promoting growth and helps parents to understand their child’s development. Assists in managing the classroom. Constantly interacts with the children and encourages their involvement in activities. Assists the teacher in completing developmental assessments. Completes assigned documents and reports. Assists in maintaining the children’s files. Qualifications: CDA or nine college credits in early education and one year’s experience. Duties include but are not limited to: developing therapeutic relationships with the program participants, assessing needs, developing goals, identifying resources, counseling, teaching a range of skills to the women and planning and facilitating therapeutic groups. Hours vary and include evenings and weekends. All House of Ruth transitional housing programs offer services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Qualifications: Qualified candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field or equivalent experience and at least two years of relevant experience (i.e. domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health issues). Life Skills Trainers: Full and part-time Life Skills Trainers are needed at the single women and family transitional housing programs. Duties include but are not limited to: developing therapeutic relationships with the women and/or children, teaching a range of daily skills to the women and/or children, facilitating or assisting in therapeutic groups, organizing and conducting on-site and community-based social/recreational activities. Hours vary and include evenings, overnights and weekends. Qualifications: Life Skills Trainer candidates should hold a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of relevant experience (i.e. domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health issues).
